Let’s start by understanding the 2 ways you can use YouTube. You can either run it as a:
- Entertainment channel
- Or to attract leads for your business
The Entertainment Trap: Why Most “Grow on YouTube” Advice Fails You
Let’s talk about the classic YouTube channels you know and love:
documentaries, sports, gaming, and tech review channels.
These channels are fantastic for entertainment, but…
They rarely sell their own products or services and rely solely on ad revenue.
This means their income relies on going viral – a constant exhausting chase for the next big hit.
Unfortunately, most “how to grow on YouTube” channels fall into this entertainment trap.
Their generic advice isn’t built for businesses like me & yours.
You’re a business, not a show business.

Forget about going viral.
YouTube Funnels is for real businesses.

YouTube Funnels is a powerful strategy designed to get leads for your business.
But how does it work?
How YouTube Funnels Work
Here’s your customer journey:
YouTube videos > YouTube homepage > About section > Landing Page > Book a Call/Download lead magnet
There are 2 main layers of this funnel:
- The backend
- The frontend
Backend funnel
The whole point of you creating content online is to drive people to your landing page.
Your job as a business owner is to drive traffic to this one-page website.
On that page, you’ll explain:
- Who you are
- what problems do you solve
- who do you help
- And tons of social proof
There are 2 types of typical backend funnel:
Option 1: Direct Booking
This is the simplest setup: Landing Page > Book a Call.
It’s straightforward and perfect for viewers who are in pain to solve their problems.
Option 2: Lead Magnet & Nurture Sequence
This approach adds 2 steps in between:
Landing Page > Lead Magnet > Email Sequence > Book a Call.
Here, you offer a valuable freebie (e.g., ebook, checklist) in exchange for their email.
Then, you send them a series of emails that’ll build trust and you’ll eventually soft-sell your services.
This can be effective for converting leads who are still in the research stage.
Both methods work, but I prefer the direct booking approach.
Why? Because I like to keep things simple.
But you should try both and see which one works for you.
Do You Have a Landing Page?
I had many consultation calls with potential YouTube clients.
I realized one thing:
Many business owners, don’t even have a landing page.
One of my doctor clients wanted to launch his YouTube channel to get customers for his private medical practice.
But he doesn’t have a landing page to point traffic from his future YouTube channel.
So I helped him build his landing page 1st.

To recap: The back-end funnel is the mechanism to nurture prospects who are considering your services.
But to get people into your back and funnel in the first place, you need to do a front-end funnel.
Front-End funnel
In layman’s terms, the front and funnel components are the content you put out to attract people to visit your landing page.
There are many types of content you can do like:
- Blog post
- TikTok
- And YouTube
For the context of this video, we’re focusing on YouTube videos specifically.
People on social media are in 3 different stages in the buyer’s journey.
So your YouTube video content should cater to these three different stages:
- Awareness – to get people to know you exist.
- Interest – to get people to like you.
- Decision – to get people to trust you.
