How to Find BANGER Video Ideas that’ll Get You Clients
If you’re watching this, you’re probably a founder, coach, consultant, or an agency owner
who want to build authority & attract your ideal clients with YouTube videos.
Before you figure out the individual video ideas to produce,
you first need to understand your overall content strategy.
So, if you haven’t,
watch this video right here.
For those of you who came from that video, let’s move on to why you’re here:
Step 1: The SECRET SAUCE to Banger Video Ideas
Here’s the secret sauce, it’s a 3-step process:
- Look for top-selling online courses in your niche.
- Study the individual modules within the course
- Your video ideas should come from the module titles
Let me explain why this works & is cunningly smart:
- People are buying the course & have positive reviews (validated)
- The course creator has already done the research
- Which modules to create
- In which order, which brings me to the next point:
- They’re already structured. What this means to you is:
- You’d know which video to make 1st, 2nd, all the way to the end (in order)
- At the end of each of these individual videos, you can tell the viewer, which video to watch next
- As a result, you’ll create a binge phenomenon where the viewer will watch a string of your videos in a row – because you tell the viewer, what to watch next
I can attest that this 100% work because I was a course creator myself
& I totally put in a ton of work to validate my course idea & made sure the flow/structure was perfect for my students before launching it.
So why reinvent the wheel when you can simply reverse engineer what works?
You’ll build your authority FAST without wasting time with trial & error.
Pretty sweet huh?
Next, I’m going to show you how to find top-selling courses in your niche.
Step 2: Live Demo: Search Popular Online Courses
Google: “Best [your niche] online course”
I love examples, here we go:
Your Niche | Google Keyword |
Landing Page Agency | Best landing page online course |
Short-Form Content Agency | Best short-form content online course |
calisthenics Coach (Fitness) | Best calisthenics online course |
Sales Funnel marketer | Best Sales Funnel online course |
For the rest of this video,
I’ll be using a landing page agency owner who wants to grow on YouTube as an example
so you’d Google:
“Best landing page online course”
I typically avoid all the ‘sponsored’ search results
And only take the organic results.
Because anything that ranks organically is most likely
Quality & trustworthy content.
There’s plenty of websites selling courses,
Personally, I like courses from Udemy & Skillshare.
Of which, Skillshare’s course structure is more simple
& what I recommend you to start with.
Let’s click on Skillshare
Alright, here’s the list of all the online courses within Skillshare
that’s teaching you about landing pages.
We’re going to pick a course with the most students enrolled.
This one has the most, at 9000 students, So let’s click on this.
scroll down to his course lessons:
Dang…. Look at this..
He literally spelled out what your videos should be about in plain sight
There are 13 lessons in this course.
Guess what, you now have 13 banger video ideas.
You can have one YouTube video teaching about:
- Why businesses need a landing page
- How to craft a clickable headline
- Best Call to Action to get clicks
- How to showcase a powerful before & after
These are topics or ideas that 9000 students have paid to learn about.
It’s already been validated.
And the best part, they’re already in sequential order.
Meaning, the students must complete the 1st lesson, then 2nd, 3rd & so forth.
So jot down all these ideas in your note-taking app,
Again, don’t worry about the YouTube titles, you just want to capture the main ideas for now.
I like to use Miro because it’s a visual whiteboard.
But you can use whatever software you’re comfortable with.
So for all 13 ideas, I’ll place 13 different frames or pages
& we’ll fill out information about each video in the respective frames later.
Great, now you have 13 solid video ideas that:
Has been validated & your target audience definitely wants to learn about
The best thing, you know which video to make in order,
And at the end of each of these videos, you’ll tell the viewer to watch the next video.
Now this, is working smart.
OK, so the next order of business is to make a decision if it’s worth making YouTube videos around these topics:
Step 3: Validating Video Ideas
Let’s start by talking about keyword research tools.
Installing keyword tools
You should NOT use the keyword tool to determine if you should or shouldn’t do the video.
Because nobody knows where they got this data from
Instead, I’m using these keyword tools to get some other information
That I’ll show in a bit.
So, there are 2 FREE YouTube keyword Chrome plugins you can use:
- VidIQ
- Tubebuddy
You can use either one of the free versions of these plugins.
It really doesn’t matter.
For the rest of this video, I’m using VidIQ.
So go ahead & install the free plugin to your Chrome browser,
link in the description below.
Next, you want to enable the plugin in Incognito mode.
Click on the puzzle icon on the top right corner of your chrome
Then click on ‘manage extension’
Scroll to find VidIQ & click on ‘details’
Turn on the toggle that says ‘allow in incognito mode’
OK, now we got that out of the way,
Now, we’re ready to validate our video ideas.
YouTube Search Module Ideas
Go back to your note-taking app & copy the first idea you’ve jotted down.
In our example, it’s ‘Why You need a Landing Page’
Great, copy that, open your Chrome browser in incognito mode,
go to YouTube, paste the idea phrase into the search box & hit enter
Bamn! We get a bunch of results
The first thing you gotta do is to see the search results.
Are they answering the searcher’s intent?
Who’s searching for this phrase?
It’s most likely someone who’s trying to sell something online on their website.
The search results seem to be targeting the correct searcher’s intent.
The VidIQ score is also in the green, which means, this is a good topic to explore more.
Of course it is, it’s already a validated idea remember?
Our next step is to look for video outliers:
These are videos that have significantly more views than that channel’s subscriber count
Thanks to VidIQ extension, you get to see all of this info easily with 1 glance.
If you have many, let’s say more than 3 videos that have more views than their subscriber account, this shows that this is an excellent video idea to produce.
Great. Now, the last step is to gather some information into your note-taking app.
Screenshot any videos that are:
- Outliers
- Good thumbnail
- Good titles
Get around 4 to 8 of these in your Miro.
This will come in handy in the future when you’re going to design your thumbnails & title
Repeat the process for all of the modules
Congratulations! You now have your entire content strategy possibly for the entire year laid out in advance.
Now you have it all the basic ingredients of banger video ideas,
The next thing to do BEFORE you shoot any videos is to draft out your winner thumbnail & titles.
